Izabela Bartosz is a teaching assistant professor in the Department of Glottodidactics. She teaches German language courses. In 1990, she earned a Master’s degree in German philology with a teaching specialization at the Institute of German Philology, University of Wrocław. From 1990 to 2001, she worked as a research and teaching staff member: starting in 1991 as an assistant in the Department of 19th- and 20th-Century Literature of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and from 1994 in the Department of Contemporary Literature and Culture of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

In 2001, she defended her doctoral dissertation on the works of Brigitte Kronauer (Die Macht der Blicke. Brigitte Kronauers Romantrilogie (Rita Münster, Berittener Bogenschütze, Die Frau in den Kissen) als ein literarisches Plädoyer für die Anschauung) under the supervision of Prof. Norbert Honsza. Since October 2001, she has been employed at the Institute of English Studies.

In the summer semester of 1989, she studied as a non-degree student at the Deutsches Institut of Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. From October 1995 to February 1996, she received a DAAD research scholarship at Ruhr University in Bochum, and in 1997, she received a one-month scholarship at the Free University of Berlin.

In 2005, she was awarded the Rector’s Prize of the University of Wrocław for her teaching achievements.

From September 2000 to June 2007, she worked as a German language instructor at the Deutsches Zentrum (Oświata Wrocław), preparing students for the ZD and ZMP Goethe-Institut exams. From 2003 to 2006, she was also a lecturer and examiner (ZD and ZMP levels) at the Goethe-Institut Examination Center within the Institute of German Philology, University of Wrocław.

From 2008 to 2024, she collaborated with the ATUT Publishing House as an editor of academic texts in Polish and German (editor of, among others: Historia et philosophia. Ante et post Hegelium, Wrocław, Dresden 2009; Joseph von Eichendorff. Poeta niemieckiego romantyzmu z perspektywy Niemców i Polaków, eds.: Grażyna Barbara Szewczyk, Renata Dampc-Jarosz, Wrocław 2010; series: Śląska Republika Uczonych – Schlesische Gelehrtenrepublik – Slezská vědecká obec, eds.: Marek Hałub, Anna Mańko-Matysiak, vols. 2–11, Wrocław).

From 2012 to 2022, she worked as a translator for Burda Media Polska Sp. z o.o.
