Piotr P. CHRUSZCZEWSKI<\/strong>, Full Professor (Dr. Habil.), linguist, translator, a scholar of English and American studies; a descendant of victims subjected to Nazi forced labor under the Third Reich; Chair of the Committee for Philological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Wroc\u0142aw Branch); a cultural anthropologist by passion; Director of the College of Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Wroc\u0142aw; certified tutor and graduate of postgraduate MBA studies in Higher Education Management (Adam Mickiewicz University & Pozna\u0144 University of Economics) as well as Educational Management (Wroc\u0142aw University of Economics).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He studied and conducted research<\/strong> in Poland, the United States, Italy, Scandinavia, Germany, Romania, and the United Kingdom. He is the author, editor, or co-editor of more than a dozen book-length publications, including the most recent one\u2014a pioneering contribution within Polish academia\u2014An Outline of Creolinguistics: Linguistic and Cultural Mechanisms of Survival, Development, and Disintegration<\/em> (published in Polish with Aleksandra R. Knapik, 2023b, \u00c6 Academic, San Diego), as well as dozens of articles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He serves as editor-in-chief<\/strong> or co-editor-in-chief<\/strong> of three academic journals: Academic Journal of Modern Philology<\/em>, Styles of Communication<\/em>, and P\u00f3\u0142rocznik J\u0119zykoznawczy Tertium<\/em>. He is also the founder, editor, and co-editor-in-chief of three scholarly monograph series: Languages in Contact<\/em> (2014\u20132018), Proceedings of the  Committee for Philological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Wroc\u0142aw Branch<\/em>, and Beyond Language<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Piotr Chruszczewski\u2019s research interests<\/strong> focus on anthropological linguistics, including the study of language and culture contact, creolinguistics, pragmatics, communication and translation studies, discourse analysis, the theory of writing, the anthropology of literacy practices, runology, and issues related to language change accompanying language contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internationally, he has served as an expert<\/strong> for the governments of Croatia, Norway, and Lithuania, as well as for the European Commission; in Poland, he has worked for the Polish Accreditation Commission, the National Science Centre, the National Centre for Research and Development, and the Council of Scientific Excellence. He is the author of numerous reviews of doctoral dissertations, postdoctoral (habilitation) theses, and academic portfolios submitted in professorial proceedings. He has supervised 237 M.A. graduates in English philology (in Wroc\u0142aw and Pozna\u0144) and 20 Ph.D. graduates in the humanities in the field of linguistics (in Wroc\u0142aw and \u0141\u00f3d\u017a). He welcomes to his seminars students who are passionate about exploring various dimensions of communication\u2014its evolution, acquisition, translation, and less obvious forms of expression that extend beyond language itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Piotr Chruszczewski has been a fellow of<\/strong> the Fulbright Commission, the Lanckoro\u0144ski Foundation (Brzezie), the Ko\u015bciuszko Foundation, and the Foundation for Polish Science. He is also a recipient of the Leopoldina Prize, the Kreatywni Wroc\u0142awia 2020<\/em> award, and more than a dozen rector\u2019s awards for achievements in research, teaching, and academic administration. For as long as he can remember, he has been actively fostering cooperation between the University of Wroc\u0142aw and numerous secondary schools. He has been an advocate of introducing tutoring<\/strong> as an additional method in higher education teaching and actively promotes science outreach, frequently visiting high schools\u2014both in Lower Silesia and beyond\u2014to conduct workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
