Katarzyna Nowak-McNeice jest profesorą uczelni, zatrudnioną w Zakładzie Literatury i Kultury Amerykańskiej. Związana z Uniwersytetem Wrocławskim od początku swojej edukacji: w Instytucie Filologii Angielskiej odbyła studia licencjackie (tytuł licencjata 1999), magisterskie (2001) i doktorskie (doktorat zatytułowany „Traveling Subjects: Post-colonial Identities in Liminal Spaces on the Example of the Prose of Women Writers of Indian Descent” obroniła w roku 2005); tam też uzyskała habilitację na podstawie serii publikacji „California and the Melancholic American Identity” w 2019 roku. Od roku 2024 Katarzyna Nowak-McNeice pełni funkcję zastępcy dyrektora ds. nauki i finansów.

W 2004 roku spędziła rok na Uniwersytecie Kalifornijskim w Los Angeles jako stypendystka Fulbrighta. W 2005 i 2006 roku otrzymała stypendium Fundacji na Rzecz Nauki Polskiej dla wybitnych młodych naukowców. W 2008 roku spędziła trzy miesiące na Loyola Marymount University w Los Angeles w ramach stypendium Fundacji Kościuszkowskiej. W 2010 uzyskała kwerendę biblioteczną na Freie Universität w Berlinie. W latach 2010-2011 była badaczką wizytującą w King’s College w Londynie. W 2014 roku została stypendystką programu mentoringowego Fundacji na Rzecz Nauki Polskiej (mentor: prof. Michael Steiner na California State University Fullerton). W 2015 roku uzyskała stypendium „Conex” w ramach Marie Curie Actions sponsorowane przez Unię Europejską i spędziła trzy lata na Uniwersytecie Karola III w Madrycie, prowadząc badania pod opieką prof. Julia Checa. W 2019 roku uzyskała stypendium tłumaczeniowe fundacji SGAE (Sociedad General de Autores y Editores) w Madrycie. W 2024 r. odbyła krótki staż badawczy na uczelni Freie Universität w Berlinie w ramach stypendium IDUB.

Katarzyna Nowak-McNeice jest autorką monografii California and the Melancholic American Identity in Joan Didion’s Novels: Exiled from Eden (2019) i Melancholic Travelers: Autonomy, Hybridity and the Maternal (2007); współredaktorką tomów Hinterlands: Cultural and Literary Perspectives (2023), Representations and Images of Frontiers and Borders: On the Edge (2022), A Dark California: Essays on Dystopian Depictions in Popular Culture (2017) i Interiors: Interiority/Exteriority in Literary and Cultural Discourse (2010), oraz autorką ponad 40 innych publikacji naukowych, recenzji i tłumaczeń. Jej zainteresowania akademickie obejmują współczesną literaturę amerykańską oraz zagadnienia z pogranicza Animal Studies, Gender Studies, Disability Studies i krytycznych badań posthumanistycznych.
